Sometimes destiny is waiting right around the corner when you least expect it. In a delightful turn of events, the next passenger to board the bus will choose you. He will scan the available seats, set his gaze upon you and extend the proverbial rose, choosing you!
Never mind the widely accepted universal bus etiquette that dictates if your backpack is seated next to you, the seat is unavailable. The connection is too strong and the bond must be forged. Move that pack, because today is the first day of the rest of your life. You have been chosen!
Never mind that several other passengers have exited the bus at their respective stops, leaving an array of available seats. It is you two against the world now. The bond can not be broken!
There will be bumps in the road, twists and turns, stops and gos. Then the relationship, as with all relationships, will fade into but a memory; a strange dream you once had, when you look up from your electronic device to find they have disappeared without so much as a goodbye, somewhere between 4th and Center St downtown.
