Saying she has no idea how this happened, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed humiliation after realizing the country’s flag has been portrayed upside-down for half a century.
“I don’t know who saved the JPEG the wrong way,” said Hasina, “but this is bullshit. At the UN, on our tourism website, outside our parliament house – the whole time, it’s been facing the wrong way. I feel mortified by this. Why didn’t anyone tell me to flip it the right way up? This is just like what happened to Japan.”
Hasina says that legislators in Dhaka is currently working on a bill that would redesign the flag. “Basically, it will look exactly the same, but there will be a little white arrow in the corner pointing up – a symbol of guidance so that never again may this shameful moment of history be repeated.”
